Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (direct hire/perm job opening)

Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, manage and maintain control systems (i.e. Distributed Control System, Programmable Logic Controller). Perform all work and conduct oneself in a manner that promotes safety of the individual and all other at employees.
Troubleshoot, make necessary repairs or upgrades, and perform preventative maintenance and service to process control equipment, control systems, equipment calibration, and instrumentation equipment to provide for the reliable operation of this equipment. Investigate problems, analyze for root causes and derive resolutions.
Collaborate with engineers, purchasers and other staff members involved in the production processes including reviewing instrumentation and control related documents to mechanical, electrical and process equipment technical specifications and vendor drawings of equipment and prepare comments and recommendations.
Ensure instrumentation and control design and engineering deliverables are delivered per specifications, and within budget and schedule as project leader, if assigned.
Participate in installation and startup and commissioning activities to assist personnel in systems checkout and commissioning, including any control system programming modifications, coordinating with the control system suppliers and coordinating resolution to problems within other disciplines.
Manage projects within the given restraints including cost and time.
Ensure that the instruments and controls comply with all internal and external health and safety regulations and requirements.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of 5 years of experience with control systems (i.e. Distributed Control System, Programmable Logic Controller).
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with industrial process control equipment

Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer the Bachelor’s Degree is in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited institution
Experience designing, managing and maintaining control systems
Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance and service to industrial process control equipment. Experience with equipment calibration and instrumentation.
Knowledge of advanced process control (APC), distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and Panel View HMI screens.
Good understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards (ANSI/ISA-5.1, ANSI/ISA-95, NFPA/NEC, IEEE, NEMA)
Instrumentation & Controls experience in a discrete manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and PLC programming.
Experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens HMIs, and programming for remote data translation and gathering is a huge plus.
