The GNS and Transcon team is responsible for providing accurate and timely information for all of the freight within our network. Customers, agents, and shippers rely on Expeditors to provide accurate freight information to ensure accurate and timely delivery. We are looking for a Systems Engineer with experience leveraging Cloud Native and Kubernetes technologies.

This position will be responsible for deploying and managing containerized workloads in public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. You will choose, configure, and deploy various CNCF software to our Kubernetes clusters. You will design processes, create automation, and implement Cloud Native solutions that allow our development teams to build new capabilities at scale.

This position will sit inthe greater Seattle, WA area.


+ 3+ years industry experience with Containers, Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, Cloud Native Developments & Deployments

+ 2+ years of creating and managing containerized workloads plus strong knowledge and experience with Kubernetes and Docker

+ Collaborate with Cloud Native Application Development and System Administration to create a highly available, performant, best in class cloud native hosting solution(s)

+ Experience with Cloud Native Development

+ Experience with CI/CD DevOps pipeline automation build tools like Jenkins and Gitlab CI/CD

+ Strong scripting skills (i.e. shell scripting, Python) for automation

+ Working experience with source control systems like Git

+ Experience with Cloud Native observability and tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Jaeger, MatterMost/Slack for notification

+ Good understanding of networking components like DNS, Load Balancer, TLS/SSL, TCP/IP, HTTP.

+ Familiar with SDLC and Agile development methodologies

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills


+ Current Certified Kubernetes Admin (CKA) or Certificate Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

+ Exposure to Big Data processing with NoSQL databases

+ Experience with Kafka, Kafka Streams, and its monitoring

+ Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, JavaScript or Typescript

+ SAFe familiarity and/or certification

+ Experience working in freight forwarding or other transportation industry roles

+ Experience working and coordinating with geographically diverse teams

+ Alignment with Expeditors' culture and a total commitment to customer satisfaction

+ Working knowledge of Office 2013 or above, AzureDevOps, and SharePoint
