Medical Assistant Certified

We are currently looking to hire a temporary Medical Assistant for a long term temporary position. The position will be located in Stamford, CT. Must be certified or registered Medical Assistant.

Must have a minimum of 1 year clinical experience.

Provide patient care in the outpatient practice under the direction of the physicians and nurses.
Assist with other clinical and clerical duties to ensure optimization of patient experience within the practice.
Ensure appropriate daily coverage for all providers in the practice and delegates tasks as needed.
Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; documents vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; drawing blood; preparing patients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings.
Counsels patients by explaining physicians orders.
Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
Schedule hospital procedures, surgeries, and diagnostic tests. Pre-certification and obtain test results.
Triage phone calls and messages for prescriptions, notes, forms, etc.
Complete disability and insurance forms under physician advisement.
Maintain and direct medical assistants for continuous clinical flow in all areas of the practice.
Keeps medical supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs in collaboration with the Practice Manager.
Monitor practice daily to assure all appropriate restocking has occurred and environment of clinical areas meet organizational standards.
Optimize and maintain par levels for vaccination/immunization in collaboration with the Nurse.

Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Accepts assignments to teach and orientate new hire clinical assistants for the organization.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.
Maintains knowledge in area of medical terminology.
Maintain open lines of communication with staff, physicians, and others.
Meets weekly with the Nurse and have daily huddles to discuss operations.
Ensure ongoing commitment of excellent customer service and supports the customer service plan.
Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
Complies with departmental organizational policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements.
Manages PTO requests of the Clinical Staff in collaboration with the Practice Manager.
Will observe staff performance, provide feedback as necessary to achieve optimal efficiency and increase productivity for the practice.
Perform other duties as assigned.


High School Diploma or equivalent.
Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant school/program.
National Certification required.
Two years job experience preferred.
Demonstrate basic computer skills.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written English proficiency required
Demonstrate willingness to work in a team environment.
Demonstrate flexibility due to unexpected changes in workload.
Demonstrate ability to work independently and as a team player.
Strong organizational skills.
Superior customer service skills.
