We are seeking a talented and innovative Discovery Informatics Associate Scientist to join our growing team.

The Discovery Informatics Associate Scientist is a specialized professional who assists in the management of drug discovery informatics for the Evotec Princeton assay and sample management teams. Reporting to the Sample Management Manager, the DIS will act as a resource within Evotec Princeton to assist in the capture, access, sharing and analysis of experimental information. In performing their duties, the DIS will be responsible for maintenance of research information systems, working independently and with diverse international teams to accomplish deliverables.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Day to Day duties revolves around

  • Providing onsite support to respond to inquiries, troubleshoot and diagnose information system problems, liaison with global informatics and IT departments, and coordinate solutions for informatics products used by the Princeton Assay Operations team.
  • Collaborating with end users and technical experts to
    • Design, improve and support web-based discovery informatics tools to work within research database infrastructure
    • Build and maintain documentation/templates for new and established research information systems and train end users
    • Assist end users to design and implement tools to provide integration between lab instrumentation and database
  • Responsible point of contact for customer interactions involving informatics support of contracted projects. Understands contracted timelines and works with all parties to maintain deadlines. 
  • Designs and performs customized system queries and other functions related to analysis, operations and/or decision making specific to assay operations, as needed
  • Analyze user needs, requirements, procedures, and problems relevant to assigned information systems and recommends solutions to improve processes
  • Operates under general guidance; work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science & Technology
  • 2-5 years working in the informatics or data management field
  • Experience with databases and corresponding query language (for example, Oracle SQL)
  • Preferred experience with Titian Mosaic
  • Demonstrated experience with oracle based scientific information management systems such as ActivityBase and Genedata
  • Demonstrated strong programming skills in at least two programming languages (eg, Python, Java, Ruby)
  • Proficient web programming skills, as well as shell programming skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer support skills
  • Familiarity in the pharmaceutical drug discovery process is a plus
  • Expert at using full suite of MS Office tools
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
