Actual Job Title: TISSUE PLACEMENT COORDINATOR

Summary: This position is responsible for the placement of eye tissue for Eversight’s eye banks. Performs assignments as required in compliance with Eversight and EBAA Medical Standards and with state and federal regulations.

Job Functions

  • Coordinate corporate placement of human eye tissue for transplant, including scheduling surgery, importing, exporting and transportation of tissue domestically and internationally.
  • Handle urgent or emergency requests as they occur, outside the normal scheduled surgery system and normal business hours.
  • Coordinate corporate placement and transportation of human eye tissue for research or other non-surgical use.
  • Monitor tissue supply and demand and communicate need to technical staff. Follow guidelines for fair and equitable distribution.
  • Complete administrative assignments, including analysis and reporting of tissue distribution activity and trends, surgical requests, and quality assurance.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with surgeons and other relevant staff.
  • Perform weekend and on-call functions as assigned.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Background Required

Bachelor’s degree preferably in a health related field. Strong organizational and communication skills are desired. Experience in surgical scheduling is helpful. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other database software is preferred. Ability to interact professionally with physicians and their staff, peers and hospital personnel is essential. A demonstrated sense of urgency is essential.

Work Environment & Physical Demands Work is primarily performed in a normal office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time. Routine use of computer. Limited noise, room temperature fluctuation and dust are possible. Occasional travel within the United States is required. Use of personal vehicle may be required when traveling within the service area.
