Evermade Foods LLC is a new venture in a brand-new facility in Warrenton, VA. Our new facility is a regulated kitchen and packaging facility in the Washington DC metro area launching production in January 2022 for food contract manufacturing in the meal preparation, CPG and delivery space.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, experienced, and adaptable professional to lead all aspects of our new facility’s food safety and regulatory compliance program.

Note, this is a reverse commute for you if you live on the north side of the beltway or in northern Virginia.

Job Summary: The Food Safety Manager will be responsible for continued creation, implementation and maintenance of GMP which will keep the company in compliance with USDA and FDA regulations, including ongoing development and implementation of HACCP programs. Act as point of contact for USDA and FDA inspectors onsite. Obtain and maintain necessary plant certifications. Register recipes with the FDA as required. Manage microbiology and quality sampling and testing of products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design, coordinate, and direct food safety programs to ensure production of fresh food items consistent with UDSA / FDA regulatory and internal standards.
  • Design, review, and maintain HACCP program in accordance with USDA/FDA standards.
  • Oversees some or all pre-requisite programs (maintenance, supplier approval, pest control, sanitation, environmental and product testing, allergen programs...)
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry policies.
  • Oversee third party auditing and plant compliance.
  • Act as liaison for USDA and FDA onsite inspectors.
  • Implement any necessary regulatory updates internally, as well as for all new products.
  • Manage recipe and label development and ensure all labels meet USDA/FDA requirements.
  • Facilitate microbiology sampling of products as well as shelf-life testing and reviews.
  • Create SSOPs and oversee facility cleaning and sanitation plan.
  • Perform vendor assessments to determine compliance with stated requirements.
  • Interact with sales and operations team to provide relevant technical information for customers.
  • Continuous improvement of the company’s food safety practices for storage of raw materials, production, and distribution of finished product.
  • Investigate customer complaints and internal non-conformities while working with all operation departments, determine root cause analysis, implement corrective action and follow up on the efficiency of the changes made.
  • Identify the need for improvement of current programs and implement the necessary changes while properly communicating with internal teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Food Science, Microbiology or related Scientific field of study and 5+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a USDA and FDA regulated, fresh food production environment.
  • Experience creating SOPs from scratch and ability to create and implement a HACCP program.
  • Exposure to dietary preferences like Paleo, Whole30, gluten free, vegan, etc. a plus.
  • Nimble for the entrepreneurial environment, with ability to throttle up and down as needed for new products and customers.
  • Must be able to interface well with all employees of the Company and to represent the Company in a highly professional manner. Must have high level of interpersonal skills, with the willingness to speak up regarding food safety. Must be multi-task oriented.
