As Principal Data Engineer with Evergreen Nephrology, you will be instrumental to our success by individually contributing to the implementation and ongoing expansion of Evergreen Nephrology's healthcare data platform. The Principal Data Engineer will support the design, development, and support of data sourcing, ingestion, and transformation solutions that will be utilized in reporting & analytics, data science, and other consumer applications. This position will collaborate with IT team members and business stakeholders to identify required data sourcing to serve the business needs and will support the ingestion and transformation pipelines. This role is customer-focused and fast-paced, with a goal to empower Evergreen business users with a state-of-the-art platform to rapidly gain insights through data.

  • Develop technical data solutions for long-term growth to meet the ever-growing needs of the business
  • Collaborate with application architects to design and develop solutions that meet business requirements
  • Design, develop, implement, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain the delivery of data in a systematic method
  • Ensure successful delivery of data and information in support of the organization's reporting & analytics
  • Create data migrations and processes that support data analysis and reporting
  • Collaborate with the technology team in testing, optimizing, and monitoring high-availability and security configurations, data storage systems, database backup processes, and more
  • Control high-volume production environments while maintaining compliant databases and application servers
  • Perform data analysis and profiling of raw data sources
  • Provide guidance and direction to support/development resources
  • Communicate with other BI team members and cross-IT staff on support and project activities
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, and product managers to deliver a new internal platform capability that developers love
  • Assist with project identification and effort estimates for ETL development of new data sources
  • Provide guidance, direction, and requirements to develop a platform that will render a blueprint, template, and guardrails to engineers and data analytics teams to get started quickly
  • Ensure automation of the release pipeline, implement DevOps and QA (including performance testing and chaos engineering), and establish a mechanism for proactive fault detection and mitigation
  • Evaluate new tools, techniques, and strategies for delivering high-quality data to users
  • Initiate documentation, knowledge-sharing, and creation of operating procedures
  • Assist with training end users on acquiring necessary data
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members to grow in their roles and knowledge of programs/processes at a company scale

  • 7+ years of professional experience in an information systems management environment
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting data warehouse solutions
  • 3+ years of experience working with healthcare data
  • Hands-on experience working in a cloud-based data platform environment; Azure and Snowflake preferred
  • Proven understanding of healthcare privacy and security practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a similar field
