Purpose: The purpose of this document is to define the responsibilities of the Structural Designer
Scope: The document applies to the position of the Structural Designer at Everett Graphics, Inc.
Adherence to food safety GMP’s when handling or near food packaging and materials.
Maintaining self in a sober, healthy and physically capable manner to perform optimally the duties of the position.
Responsible for following those items of the Food Safety Program within the scope of their position at Everett Graphics, Inc.
Responsible for their personal self; dependable, diligent, loyal, appropriately dressed and demonstrates honesty and integrity in all actions at Everett Graphics, Inc. Shall demonstrate a high level of maturity in the performance of their position.
Provide efficient, timely and creative packaging solutions in a folding carton environment.
Ability to develop design solutions for cost effective, structurally sound primary and secondary packaging for the retail, consumer product and pharmaceutical markets.
Design folding cartons in a manufacturing environment and understand the impact of design on die cutting and gluing equipment.
This position reports to and is responsible to the Design Department Manager. Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Operations Manager.
Responsible for following all safety procedures as prescribed by Everett Graphics, Inc.
Ensure the following actions are taken with regard to safety:
o Personal actions
o Machinery actions
Identifying in a proactive manner possible safety issues and taking actions to prevent problems and accidents.
Responsible for the quality control points within the scope of their position at Everett Graphics, Inc.
Responsible for reporting any food safety or quality-related problems to a member of the supervision or management team.
Maintains work areas throughout the shift to GHP Standards.
Demonstrates the desire to hold positions of increasing responsibility through the conduct of personal self, internal training, and achieving the highest skill level.
Develop design solutions in a folding carton environment (primary substrates are paperboard and corrugated) using Arden Impact CAD software.
Create packaging prototypes
Ensure all designs meet customer, as well as factory, requirements
Follow internal procedures to ensure proper design protocols are followed
Remain up to date on new packaging trends, material, and technology
Create efficiency-focused production layouts
Create and review production comps
Proactively participate in discussing design projects with sales, customers, outside vendors, and other departments
Be able to interpret direction from customer, sales, and management to develop packaging solutions
Organize and maintain board and supply inventory
Perform weekly maintenance
