Job Description

The Evaporator/Dry Coil Welder is a member of the Evapco Production team. This position is designed to assist in the fabrication of Evapco coil products.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Maintain production schedule
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance PM’s that are the operators responsibility
  • Complete all production and quality documentation
  • Maintain leak rate within skill level. Initiation period (6 months or 10,000 welds), new welders must maintain a leak rate no greater than 6% (1 leak for every 17 welds). After 6 months or 10,000 welders must maintain a running leak rate at or below 4% (1 leak for every 25 welds), rolling calendar year
  • Maintain acceptable weld appearance
  • Maintain acceptable production rate within the skill level
  • Make quality checks to ensure materials, parts and workmanship are compliant with engineering requirements and productions expectations

Required Qualifications

  • C1 MIG/TIG/STICK - (Interconnecting piping, SST or Carbon Steel)
  • C-3 Braze - (Distributor Copper/Brass)
  • C-4 TIG – (SST)
  • C-5 is a carbon steel plate, ½” thick, flat position

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • Basic math (i.e. add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions)
  • Read a tape measure to within 1/16”
  • A general understanding of common hand tools is preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to read and understand all engineering prints related to the process
  • Safe operation of all overhead lifting cranes and jib booms
  • Able to determine good weld quality during the welding process and make correction as needed
  • Assist in other areas of the shop when needed
  • Maintain the required welder certification within the skill level
  • Mentor lessor experienced welders

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment
  • Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday
  • Lifting of 50 lbs or less
  • Wear PPE when required – Manufacturing Areas
  • Shift work, days or nights, Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays and Sundays
