EWEB seeks a skilled Civil Engineer (Staff or Senior) to support EWEB's Owner's Dam Safety Program (ODSP). This position is part of the dam safety program and provides engineering and technical support, and project management functions on all dam safety aspects of the projects to ensure regulatory compliance, operation reliability, and public safety.
The ideal candidate for the position will have experience in geotechnical engineering or other areas of expertise related to dam engineering. The following are typical work responsibilities for the position:
- Performs engineering assessments and analyses, and/or reviews designs in the area of dam safety for the EWEB-owned hydroelectric projects, including canal embankments, slopes, dams and appurtenant structures.
- Manages projects for dam safety improvements and upgrades to address regulatory concerns, operation reliability issues and public risks, including coordination with key stakeholders, consultants, and regulators.
- Conducts dam safety inspections, and provides technical supports and dam safety training to operators and field crews.
- Writes and reviews engineering and technical documents and dam safety reports following regulatory guidelines.
- Reviews, updates, or implements instrumentation and early warning systems for monitoring the EWEB canal embankments and dams.
- Responds to dam emergencies and provides support in emergency preparedness and emergency action plans.
EWEB intends to fill one opening, but is posting at the both the Staff and Senior levels. Preference will be given to candidates at the Senior level, but may fill at the Staff level.
Staff Engineer: $79,320.59 - $99,150.79 Annually
Senior Engineer: $91,835.95 – $114,794.99 Annually

Minimum Training and Experience Required:
Senior Civil Engineer Minimum Experience: Requires a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience.
Staff Civil Engineer Minimum Experience: Requires a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
Education: Requires a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of experience and education may be qualifying.
Valid driver license: Yes or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of being hired.
Professional license or registration: Professional Engineer (PE) required or ability to obtain reciprocity within six months.
