The role of Maintenance Manager is responsible for day to day activities of directing, controlling and coordinating all activities of the Maintenance and R&D Departments. Support plant facilities and equipment to produce quality products in an efficient and profitable manner.
Primary focus is on establishing extremely high-levels of operational excellence, service, and quality across all tasks performed by self & team while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement – at the same time ensuring a safe & secure work environment for every employee.
MAIN FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively utilise available resources to determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
Establish & implement an effective PM program & ensure adherence by maintenance team.
Work with Management Team, to create & maintain an effective, safe, and enjoyable work environment for all employees. Establish a ‘safety first’ culture to all activities, whether completed by Essentra personnel or a 3rd party.
Diagnose and repair electrical, software and mechanical related faults. Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Interpret engineering specs to troubleshoot problems to root cause (e.g. component failure).
Collect and analyse basic statistical data for downtime, fault types, PM adherence etc. utilizing Pareto, process capability run charting.
Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance/R&D and provide inputs on annual Maintenance/R&D Budget/ Spend.
Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
Coordinate and monitor all Sub-contractors working throughout the facility
Ensure any incidents are reported in line with Company policy - minimise risk by making sure all associates have undergone appropriate training for roles, and that equipment & procedures are regularly reviewed in line with legal & Company requirements.
Maintain a continued focus on improving relevant operational KPIs– including a weekly review with the appropriate team members. Collaborate to determine the root-cause of any failures, and subsequently propose & disseminate improvement plans
Proactively champion a function-wide focus on quality inclusive of all departments & teams; establish a focus on role of each & every individual, and sharing accountability as a team
Ensure all Maintenance follow leading manufacturing practices inclusive of, but not exclusive of, Essentra’s ‘Safe Systems of Work’ (SSOW)
Seek to implement functional improvements - process, system and data - in line with the Company’s objectives
Provide leadership, direction and coaching to all staff to guarantee that value is delivered for our Stakeholders and our Customers
Actively drive the training & development of all employees to create a multi-skilled team capable of supporting each other in completing all functional tasks
Conduct regular reviews with the Maintenance Team, focused on performance objectives and personal development; where appropriate establish individual development plans
Represent the Company in a professional & appropriate manner in all situations
Complete any other reasonable tasks/projects as requested by the Company
SKILLS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Proven track record in a similar role, ideally with experience of operations & methods associated with the manufacturing of small, high-volume, close-tolerance injection molded products.
Multi-year experience in equipment maintenance or within industrial maintenance field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
A willingness to be forward thinking and accept any changes necessary for the progress of the department or Company.
Take ownership of change actions; ensure everyone is fully engaged, the overall pace of change is set to achieve targets and manage any uncertainty and/or issues that arise during the process.
Excellent verbal, written skills to communicate appropriately with all levels of the business.
First class time-management and organisation skills to support working in a versatile & fast-paced role
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, and other business systems utilised in a manufacturing & distribution environment beneficial.
