Reporting to the Financial Controller, Essentra Components Flippin, the role of Buyer is responsible and accountable for all purchasing transactions across raw materials, finished goods, and indirect goods & services.

Primary focus is on establishing extremely high-levels of purchasing excellence, service, and quality across all tasks performed by self - additionally maintaining a safe & secure work environment at all times.

MAIN FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate & further the Company ‘safety first’ culture towards all activities, whether completed by Essentra personnel or a 3rd party. Additionally, ensure any incidents are reported in line with Company policy
  • Work with colleagues across the Company to ensure that all purchasing requirements for materials, products , and/or services are generated in an accurate and timely manner
  • Review Purchase Requisitions for raw materials and indirect goods & services and convert into firm Purchase Orders with appropriate vendors
  • Generate Purchase Orders for finished-goods from intercompany & 3rd party vendors, based upon immediate & forecasted Customer demand
  • Hold vendors accountable to their committed lead-times and delivery schedules. Identify poor performing vendors and gather details on root-causes
  • Maintain accurate purchasing-related data in the MRP system (eg. vendor details, lead-times, MOQs). Ensure missing data and errors are promptly addressed
  • Proactively expedite deliveries across all POs as required
  • Take ownership with vendors on any problems that occur in the course of procuring their materials, goods, or services (ie. invoice discrepancies, lead time violation, poor quality) until the problem is fully resolved
  • Seek to implement functional improvements - process, system and data - in line with the Company’s objectives
  • Represent the Company in a professional & appropriate manner in all situations
  • Complete any other reasonable tasks/projects as requested by the Company

SKILLS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Proven track record in a similar role, ideally with multi-year experience of operating with a high-volume low margin product base
  • A willingness to be forward thinking and accept any changes necessary for the progress of the department or Company
  • Take ownership of change actions; ensure everyone is fully engaged, the overall pace of change is set to achieve targets, and manage any uncertainty and/or issues that arise during the process
  • Excellent verbal, written skills so as to communicate appropriately with all levels of the business
  • First class time-management and organisation skills to support working in a versatile & fast-paced role
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, and other business systems utilised in a manufacturing & distribution environment beneficial
