Job SummaryControls System Specialist works under general supervision and is responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, altering, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and systems. This position works with high and low voltage systems and works with the Maintenance and Manufacturing teams. The Controls Systems Specialist needs to have a strong understanding of and implement all aspects of the electrical code.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assess various types of machines and their current state from an electrical, mechanical, and productivity standpoint Obtain appropriate sign-offs, complete all required paperwork, notify production personnel and unlock/re-start equipment Clean and maintain and properly store all equipment and tools and maintain parts inventory of the service/parts shop Observe all areas of the facility for maintenance criteria, report deficiencies to supervisor and complete appropriate audit forms, inventory forms, and log...
book as required Support continuous improvement in department Keep work area and control room clear, clean and organized. At end of shift, perform general housekeeping Receive and prioritize requisitions for repairs, hardware, materials and supplies, verify orders and check inventory Plan proper operational repair work sequences and minimize production delay to perform preventative maintenance tasks on electronic control systems for production equipment, coordinate with co-workers/supervisor a schedule to complete the work in a timely manner Troubleshoot and maintain all electrical control systems, motor control circuits, variable speed drives and soft-start from motor condition diagnosis to PLC or other control as required Amend or create P&ID drawings to correctly identify new strategies Define electrical and control enhancement strategies over current state Inspect, maintain repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid-state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non-powered tools and equipment Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to the Electrical Code and company electrical standards Maintain all types of electrical equipment, layout and complete disconnects/re-connects installations, modifications, repairs and updates of electronic control systems and process instrumentation systems Assist other maintenance personnel with the repair, maintenance, rebuilding and installation of equipment and machinery in the facility Perform PM tasks of electronic control systems; control panel and changing relays, complete special projects as required Inspect work area, perform clean-up using proper tools and equipment and according to approved methods and procedures Enter downtime data in daily log, complete PM sheets, tracking and store the department inventory, including spare parts as requiredQualifications Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering degree, or equivalent Associates degree and/or technical certifications, or equivalent practical/field experience Industrial engineering: 4 years (preferred) Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician's License (preferred) Minimum 3 years' experience with programming, commissioning controls systems or the combination of education, training and experience to successfully complete the job tasks, with preference given to those with a background in manufacturing Ability to understand and read existing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic prints Knowledge of communications methods between a variety control systems Must pass company aptitude test, with skills levels recognized by management as essential to the maintenance organization generally supported by training, certificate of continuing education or other documented evidence of keeping current with technologies and demonstrate competency in the in-house systems/software Must have excellent computer skills fluent Microsoft Office and perform complex math calculations and the abi
