Engineering Supervisor - Plant Support

Ergon, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in Flowood, Mississippi. With over 3,500 employees across the globe, Ergon is engaged in a number of industries related to the refining and marketing of specialty oils, asphalt, thermoplastic resins, petrochemicals, propane, and the necessary infrastructure to support those businesses. Ergon owns and operates two petroleum refineries located in Mississippi and West Virginia, producing gasoline, low sulfur diesel, lubricant and process base oils, asphalts and other specialty products. Ergon also produces, markets, and/or distributes paving asphalt, asphalt emulsions, specialty coatings, sealants, and other road construction and maintenance products from over thirty owned or leased asphalt and emulsions plants across the United States.

The Engineering Supervisor-Plant Support will lead a team of plant support engineers responsible for executing minor capital and maintenance projects as well as providing maintenance support for Ergon's Corporate Engineering department with a primary focus within the Pavement & Coating Resources (PCR) and Integrated Services & Logistics (ISL) business segments. This role will support facilities as well as train, mentor, and guide plant support engineers with tasks such as trouble shooting maintenance issues, building relationships with facility personnel, and executing maintenance and small capital projects at their assigned facilities.

The Engineering Supervisor will guide, direct, and mentor his/her direct reports related to all of their projects and maintenance activities at each of their facilities as well as serving as the plant support engineer for a select number of facilities. Regular responsibilities include proactive and reactive maintenance support, systems design, cost estimating, project justification, contractor review, scheduling, and construction management. Typical maintenance and project support will include tanks, pumps, mixers, boilers, heaters, piping, foundations, electrical, and instrumentation. The Engineering Supervisor will conduct site visits for his/her facilities as well as participate with site visits for the plant support engineers on his/her team. This position will champion continuous improvement initiatives, including systems and procedure enhancements, that ensure knowledge transfer and consistency within the group.

Engineering Supervisor - Plant Support Key Roles/Duties:

• Manage a team of plant support engineers including on-boarding, training, and mentoring.
• Manage key relationships within the Operations Management Team to help drive success of the plant support engineering team.
• Review and approve scope of works, project designs, and AFE's for projects being executed by members of the Engineering Supervisor's team.
• Provide technical support for facilities and help troubleshoot and assess maintenance issues.
• Serve as project manager with responsibilities including scope development, detailed design, budget development, contractor selection, schedule management, and project execution oversight.
• Write purchase requisitions and work orders using SAP to issue purchase orders to vendors/contractors and approve invoices for materials or labor incurred while managing projects as well as approving the same for direct reports
• Prepare and/or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.
• Design, specify, and/or select mechanical systems, equipment, and instrumentation related to process and/or storage applications.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety laws related to repairs or projects.
• Manage contractor selection process and oversee construction activities

Engineering Supervisor - Plant Support Qualifications/Skill Required:

• Technical Bachelor's Degree is required. Mechanical or Civil Engineering is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years as a maintenance/project/support engineer is preferred but not required.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Excellent customer service- builds relationships within and outside of the department effectively

The person chosen will also be required to travel to his or her assigned facilities and project locations as required to perform his or her duties.
