The Clinical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for clinical sample processing to detect and characterize CTCs. This person must be able to work independently and in collaboration with others in a team-oriented environment and have previous experience working in a high-complexity environment.

WORK SCHEDULE: Tuesday - Saturday 3-11:30 PM



+ A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or chemical, physical, or biological science;

+ California licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) is required;

+ 2+ year of industry laboratory experience performing high complexity testing is strongly preferred.

+ Familiarity with molecular technologies (such as NGS) is required;

+ Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, NYS guidelines required; cGMPs and FDA guidelines a plus

+ Familiarity with fluorescence microscopy, cell staining with antibodies is a plus.

Communication Skill :

Works effectively with both internal and external audiences to interpret and summarize data both orally and in writing; ability to write protocols and procedures and SOP's; provides useful feedback to more junior members of the team in a timely way; May be assigned training duties

Works effectively in a team environment; establishes effective relationships with managers, team members, and other internal departements; exhibits a consistent degree of skill in potentially challenging conversations


Demonstrate a mastery of lab processes with a solid mastery of data analysis techniques. Works under limited supervision to interpret data and results; may offer input re: workload balancing, planning, and forecasting.


Demonstrated ability to complete a broad variety of tasks in the lab; offers input regarding improving processes and outcomes. Pay close and consistent attention to detail. Able to communicate data to internal and external audiences.


+ Responsible for testing and reporting laboratory test results for all test methods approved by CAP, NYS and CLIA.

+ Ensures accuracy and quality of test results meeting required turnaround times.

+ Follow SOPs for routine blood sample processing, staining, scanning and cell image classification for clinical samples; and/or cell selection, whole genome amplification (WGS) and NGS workflows

+ Enters testing data and performs a variety of standardized tests on patient samples using immunologic and/or molecular methodology.

+ Evaluates the validity of results obtained, maintains proper records of results and creates a report of results.

+ Maintains quality control and data prior to release of results.

+ Ensures that testing methods follow established quality control procedures; and assists with the preparation of chromatographic data reports prior to release.

+ Identifies, troubleshoots, documents and resolves problems with test results.

+ Initiates deviations, non-conformances, and CAPAs when non-conformances or protocol deviations occur

+ Prepares and maintains reagents and supplies; performs applicable maintenance on laboratory equipment and maintains laboratory in a clean and orderly condition.

+ Follows safe laboratory practices and participates in operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.

+ Participates in internal and external laboratory audits.

+ Required to follow all safety procedures, policies, precautions, and Quality Assurance policies.

+ Acts as a resource and trainer; may oversee the duties of clinical laboratory technicians and other personnel in high complexity testing environment

+ May participate in research or assay transfer projects.


May perform additional duties as assigned or directed by management from time to time.
