Job Description

Candidates should have experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities. The engineer must be able to contribute to  the development of mechanical products assuming responsibility for execution of activities including costing/scheduling, design, analysis, and engineering documentation.  

Experience with design and selection of machine elements used in precision mechanisms including electronic enclosures for harsh environments is required. The candidate must also be familiar with fabrication and integration of electro-mechanical systems and be able to optimize designs for manufacturing.

Analytical skills should include a working knowledge of classical strength of materials, static and dynamic equilibrium, stress, thermal and environmental design considerations. The engineer should have a working knowledge of aluminum, steel and alloys, follow standard design practice with an understanding of human safety factors. Familiarity with product safety certification process, including CE marking is a plus. Required computer skills include solid modeling, 3D CAD (SolidWorks) with drawing generation is required, and analysis tools like as COSMOS or Algo a plus.  The engineer must be PC literate and able to use MS Office products.  The engineer should display a  strong aptitude for problem solving with good organizational skills,  must be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with experience in an electro-mechanical enclosure design/fabrication environment. Experience should include:

  • Solid modeling and generation of detail drawings with Bills of Material
  • Designing steel, aluminum and alloy structures
  • Designing electronic enclosures, (avionics boxes)
  • Demonstrable understanding of mechanics of materials as it is applied to the design and selection of machine elements
  • Understanding of precision machine shop practices
