The IR Production Specialist supports the company’s project engineers / managers with system surveying, as-built documentation, infrastructure renewal design, Point-to-Point documentation and testing of completed project work. This position is primarily field engineering related, supplemented with CAD capabilities to document what exists with modifications required to improve functionality.
Additional support functions include establishing, refining and maintaining company CAD standards.
General Project Related Duties
Support and assist the project manager / engineer with mechanical, electrical and / or control system surveying, as-builting, assessments, planning and design.
Create and develop AutoCAD plans as required for each project from field data, available construction documents and / or as-builts.
Expedite work packages by organizing and executing design that provides best value for the owner with the best combination of new and reuse of existing assets.
Develop and maintain standard drawings, equipment schedules and detail libraries which includes creating and/or modifying standard blocks and attribute blocks as needed.
Develop, apply and oversee CAD standards for layering, dimensioning, text annotations and information storage.
Ensure CAD drafting standards and quality assurance / control is maintained on all projects.
Remain current with CAD software developments.
System Surveys and As-Built Documentation
Perform site surveys to determine and document system configurations in support of facility assessments and/or in preparation for infrastructure renewal design. Documentation to one line or P&ID documents, with plan view and elevation drawings needed to modify systems.
Procure, review and field verify existing documents for accuracy as they may apply to new work requirements.
Participate in research, data collection, and data analysis.
Assist with troubleshooting, diagnostics and solution development.
System One Lines and P&IDs
Prepare system one line and/or P&ID, controls diagram and equipment schedule documentation for purposes of determining existing configurations, with modifications required to equipment, distribution, control inputs and outputs, piping, wiring or performance evaluations.
Prepare one lines in support of Balance asset trees and / or performance evaluation dash boards
Infrastructure Renewal Design
With input from project engineer / manager, prepare floor plans, system schematic designs, one lines, P&IDs, plan views, elevations, or other graphical aids to depict existing conditions, points of connection, and/or new work required.
With input from project engineer / manager, assist with determination and compliance with applicable code requirements.
Provide setup of project drawings and type of layout to include plans, diagrams, details and schedules by use of scaled xref’s, mview’s, etc.
With input from project engineer / manager, perform calculations to determine equipment and distribution sizing and selections
With input from project engineer / manager, prepare design development and/or construction documents to be used for design / build or design / bid procurement activities, to include selection and editing of standard details and specifications consistent with design intent.
With input from project engineer / manager, ensure final drawings are complete, clear and accurate
Point-to-Point (P2P) Documentation & Functional Testing
Prepare P2P documentation from control submittals and/or Building Automation screen shots
Assist with / direct P2P testing, to include owner / operators, control contractors and others with technical expertise pertinent to successful test results.
5 or more years’ field experience in commercial MEP and control system design, commissioning; retro-commissioning; and construction.
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical and control system configurations, to include equipment types, distribution methods, and common job site obstacles / conditions with field related analytical, problem-solving and corrective action planning abilities.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and control system design approaches and standards.
Ability to read / interpret mechanical, electrical, control and architectural design documents and to visualize system in 3D.
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel and Bluebeam.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to prioritize and execute workload to meet deadlines.
