Job Description

Role Overview

  • As a Software Development Manager, you will have technical and line management accountability to deliver all new product features within a defined product portfolio, whilst supporting business stakeholders and service teams in support and maintenance of the live product base aligned to agreed development team service responsibilities. Helps sets, manages a technical system roadmap, and supports the technical work delivery in Product release cycles to achieve effective utilization of team resources, optimal delivery against plan and good development practices will all be key responsibility areas in this role.
  • As a leader in technology, you will work closely with Product Management teams and the product user base to ensure your group deploy live change within an agreed delivery schedule and ensure user & quality requirements are fully met. Fostering a solution orientated technical culture, agile processes, and a lean toolset whilst driving continuous improvement mind-set will be key success factors areas for this role.

  • Direct line manager of software development teams
  • Managing performance & development goals to motivate and ensure high team performance
  • Manage technical knowledge and experience levels to meet strategic business demands
  • Ensure good technical communications across team, skills, techniques & cross training
  • Mentors and/or coaches and organizes on-the-job training for team members to meet skill gaps
  • Manage resourcing needs and lead recruitment activities
  • Liaise with Architecture team on key platform, design & tool selection to help achieve a consistent development platform
  • Develop and expand best practices in Agile SCRUM development, inc. security and code design aspects
  • Guide and support technical leadership group in solution design process and advance solution expertise and practices
  • Drive system strategy to improve architecture, creating a strong continuous improvement culture
  • Introduce modern engineering practices to take advantage of their benefits and advance team knowledge of best practices
  • Promote technical cross training culture across team and improve induction cycle and Information sharing

Who you are:

  • 3rd level qualification in a computer related discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a software development environment
  • Strong tech leadership track record
  • Preferred 2+ years in a software development technical lead role
  • Minimum 2 years in an Agile Scrum development or similar distributed software development
  • Environment
