About the role:
Embark has a part-time position available for a Research Assistant in Survey Science. Our surveys allow us to gather important data about dogs’ appearance, behavior, medical conditions, etc., which are essential for furthering genetic discoveries.
This position would be an ideal fit for an undergraduate or graduate student looking to gain experience in Survey Science, including principles of effective survey design, technical skill development, documentation protocols, testing, and deployment. Students in social or behavioral sciences, public health, or animal sciences may find this role to be of particular interest. Existing knowledge of (or interest in learning) basic analytics, SQL, and Python is a plus! The position is designed to offer a flexible work schedule to accommodate the demands of academic studies. We are especially interested in candidates who expect to average 8-12 hours/week.
What you’ll do:
The work is focused on building surveys in Qualtrics, pre-launch testing, and creating important documentation (e.g., codebooks) for our repository of surveys. Survey building will include some more advanced elements of survey design, including branching logic, piping data, and creating questions with a variety of response types. The work may also include QA/QC on survey responses and other approaches for data validation and quality checks.
What experience we’re looking for:
We’re looking for an independent and highly motivated individual who is interested in human behavior and improving the health of dogs! Previous experience building surveys in software such as Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or REDCap is ideal. Prior work experience and strong recommendations are important.
What we can offer:
At Embark, we might be dog lovers, but we’re passionate about people too. We’re committed to building an inclusive culture where all employees can belong and flourish. Here are some of our benefits and perks:
- A vibrant work environment in which we study dog phenomics and genomics
- A flexible out-of-office policy so you can take the time you need when you need it for academic commitments
- Competitive salary for part-time employment ($15/hr)
- An opportunity to support our mission to improve canine health and longevity through science
