ECP's in-house management and leasing staff work with a variety of third-party brokers and property management groups to execute defined operating and investment objectives.

PAYROLL AND BENEFITS SPECIALIST

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner
  • Manage the setup of new employees including new hire package and orientations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of current employee data in Payroll System
  • Responsible for managing ADP Time & Attendance system. Work with managers and employees to have timely submittals of timecards.
  • Administer employee medical and other benefit plans (disability, life insurance)
  • Responsible for managing, reconciling, and remitting funds bi-weekly for Simple IRA Plan.
  • Compile data from payroll sources and create payroll journal entry for accounting
  • Monitor the accurate processing of new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations
  • Prepare and review payroll reconciliations including reconciliation of benefits billings
  • Ensure the compliance of Multiple State Employment Taxes as necessary
  • Reconcile with ADP Payroll Taxes (941, TWC, FUTA)
  • Reconcile and process annual W-2 filings, W-2 corrections through ADP
  • Produce desktop procedures for all payroll activities
  • Maintain effective internal controls over payroll area
  • Review and improve payroll policies and procedures
  • Provide required documentation and process control information for internal and external audit groups.
  • Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports as needed

Other Duties (Non-Payroll):

  • Create and maintain property AR aging reports
  • Enter cash receipts for multiple properties for property accountants’ review
  • Bank Reconciliations for corporate entities as needed
  • Provide administrative support for accounting group
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
  • Payroll and Benefits experience with multiple companies
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal rules and laws
  • Experience in Real estate and Property Management industry preferred

The following skills are required:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and people skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in ADP payroll and MRI accounting software preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word
  • Must be hands-on, detail oriented and possess the ability to look beyond the box
  • Ability to work independently and proactive planning are needed to succeed in this position.
