Position Title: Behavior Modification Teacher
Location: T. A. Dugger Jr. High
Qualifications: Valid Tennessee Special Education Teacher Certificate/Licensure to teach children with disabilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides an educational program for students in the Alternative Learning Program as defined in the student's individual educational program (I.E.P.).
- Works cooperatively with the staff.
- Communicates regularly with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of the student.
- Participates as a member of the IEP Team. Assists in screening, evaluating, and making recommendations regarding the placement and program for these students.
- Develops and implements an individualized education program, Functional Behavior Assessments, and behavior plan for each child complimentary to his/her educational, social and emotional strengths and weaknesses as defined through the evaluation and I.E.P. process.
- Completes necessary reports and daily record keeping as required by state and local policies and procedures. Consults with administrative and supervisory personnel regarding progress and problems of students in the program.
- Develops and implements a system of tracking and evaluating students' academic and social performance on a daily basis and determine the extent to which student IPE goals and objectives are achieved.
- Physical Ability to train and or assist staff in physical management of students in crisis
- Demonstrates effective behavioral strategies for students placed in the Alternative Learning Program.
- Participates in professional growth activities through staff development, in-services, workshops, and higher education.
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district
- Assumes such other responsibilities as requested by the Building Administrator and Special Education supervisor.
- Conduct informal behavioral assessments and use results to plan behavioral strategies.
- Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, and emotional needs of students as stated in IEP.
- Develop and implement a system of tracking and evaluating students' academic and behavioral performance on a daily basis.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Capacity and Ability Requirements: This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. or the weight of an average child, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: pushing and/or pulling; climbing; stooping and/or kneeling; reaching; talking; hearing; seeing.
