Job Description
Summary: 
The Service Engineer will work independently, or in a team, and be responsible for all aspects of the repair, evaluation, installation, and maintenance of the main engine(s), auxiliary diesel generator(s) and their related components at customer job sites and at Company workshops.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to
  • Performing assembly and disassembly of main engines and/or auxiliary diesel generators and all associated processes for the purpose of repair, maintenance and installation.
  • Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing warrantable and non-warrantable items.
  • Skillfully using metric and imperial measuring tools, such as Vernier’s, calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Cleaning main engine and auxiliary diesel generator components to company standards using wet and dry-cleaning processes, ensuring the integrity of the component’s material and dimension.
  • Operating rotating machinery, such as lathes, drills, lapping tools and misc. special tooling correctly and in a safe manner.
  • Estimating time and material costs for repairs and parts as needed.
  • Keeping supervisor abreast of needs for additional resources and of progress of schedules.
  • Traveling as needed to respond to service calls from our customers.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company/OSHA/ISO standards and perform all tasks in accordance with established safety procedures.
Position Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Physics - Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, atmospheric dynamics, mechanical, and electrical structures and processes.
Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Computers - Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including standard applications.
Management – Basic knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Safety - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety operations.

Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems.

Education Requirements:
  • 3-6 years related experience, prefer marine/offshore industry experience
  • Technical Certificate Preferred
  • Must be able to travel over 50% of the time
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Able to read and understand instructional books and technical drawings written in English
  • Able to communicate professionally and effectively in English
