Job Description

Electra is seeking an experienced Product Senior Vehicle Systems Engineer/IPT Lead for our unique hybrid-electric extreme-STOL aircraft family. Vehicle systems includes electric propulsion, turbine hybrid, avionics/electrical, actuation, landing gear, hydraulics, thermal/environmental management, ice protection, etc. This position will be an IPT lead position for the right applicant. Applicants must have a track record of working in a team through an aircraft development and certification program. Participation in a business-jet or sophisticated general aviation aircraft certification would be an advantage.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Responsible for leading all aspects (requirements, architectures, BOM, design, analysis, build, test, cost, schedule, risk, team, suppliers, etc.) of the vehicle's systems.
  • Develop requirements compatible with safety/certification, performance, and business objectives.
  • Conduct trade studies and define architectures/concepts.
  • Select and manage suppliers/partners.
  • Prepare plan and execute while growing/mentoring a team.
  • Collaborate with program management, other IPTs, and functional groups to accomplish team goals.

Qualifications & Required Skills
  • A strong work ethic and ability to independently meet and lead the areas described by the responsibilities and essential functions.
  • Deep technical knowledge in electric propulsion, turbine hybrid, avionics/electrical, actuation, landing gear, hydraulics, thermal/environmental management, and ice protection.
  • Ability to budget and schedule appropriately and update those estimates as a program matures.
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or related discipline preferred; advanced degree in related discipline strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years' experience in relevant discipline areas; 3+ years' experience in aircraft certification; 5+ years in a management role with proven success leading a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), certification procedures (especially Part 23), and relevant industry standards.
  • Licensed pilot preferred (FAA, EASA, PPL, CPL, etc.) but not required.
