MARKETING MANAGER

Purpose Statement:

Marketing Manager develops and implements strategic marketing direction and support for El Rio Grande Latin Market retail stores to build the El Rio Grande Latin Market brand and deepen the company’s footprint in the community.

Responsibilities include:

Working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and monitoring budget expenditures.

Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with multiple store teams to implement marketing initiatives.

  • Inspire and guide store teams to execute the highest level of retail marketing.

  • Drive strategic event and partnership opportunities that build brand awareness and business growth.

  • Strengthen El Rio Grande Latin Market brand standards in stores and communities.

  • Develop individual store-specific strategies best-suited for stores based on demographics as well as shared company strategies that reinforce El Rio Grande Latin Market external footprint.

  • Support key community partnerships and events.

  • Manage individual store marketing budgets and donations processes.

  • Manage company’s social media channels.

  • Support development and execution of market-specific social media, advertising and PR strategy that drives retail initiatives.

  • Provide leadership and participate in the development, execution, and analysis of marketing initiatives such as advertising (creative development and media planning), public relations, promotions that involve negotiations with third-party marketing partners, sponsorships, community relations and cause-based marketing.

  • Lead ongoing dialogues with Store Leadership on opportunities, challenges, and goals.

  • Oversee store graphic program to ensure company standards and signage compliance; participate in store signage walks with field operations staff.

  • Act as a continuous source of creative ideas and solutions to increase stores’ sales and brand awareness/image, through marketing and promotion opportunities.

  • Visit the competition on a regular basis and react to current industry trends.

  • Develop monthly marketing plans. Provide monthly plans and recaps to Executive Team.

  • Maintain a productive working relationship with Buying, Operations, and Merchandising teams

  • Perform DFW-driven PR, social media, and copywriting tasks.

  • Support new store openings.

  • Weekly reporting of activity, travel, schedule, store issues, project status required.

  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.

  • Organize, integrate and prioritization marketing programs for execution.

  • Develop Marketing strategy and programming for category-specific retail programs in partnership with the Purchasing team.

  • Integrate and leverage brand marketing programs to ensure seamless customer experience in-store and in other channels (digital, community, etc.)

  • Evaluate effectiveness of Marketing investment in specific sales initiatives through diverse channels (digital, advertising, outdoor, in-store, other)

  • Develop and manage marketing budgets to meet company objectives ongoing.

  • Track and manage customer count, transaction size, and overall store sales by department.

  • Support Hiring campaigns as needed.

  • Facilitate e-commerce planning, execution, and ongoing operation.

 

Exceptional skills in the following areas:

  • Strategic Planning and Analysis – Ability to develop ideas into actionable marketing plan; highly-developed analytical skillset for evaluating program/initiative effectiveness to continuously drive the ROI on Retail Marketing priorities

  • Message Development Strategy - Demonstrated ability to develop messaging framework, hierarchy, and sequencing for specific target audiences.

  • Presentation and Proposal Development - Develop dynamic presentations and proposals integrating the interests of diverse stakeholder groups. Exceptional at driving team accountability supporting budget, prioritization, and brand standards.

  • Negotiation - Highly skilled at creating “win-win” solutions with internal stakeholders balancing trade-offs in cost with competing priorities.

Required Education and Experience

  • B.A. or B.S. degree preferred.

  • At least 5 years of experience in the sales and marketing field and/or in office management.

  • Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bi-lingual/multi-lingual. English / Spanish is a required.

  • Advanced computer skills i.e., Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel,

  • At least (2) two years of leadership experience that includes managing the entire Team Member/Employee lifecycle

  • Ability to keep teams on track financially, creatively and in accordance with brand standards.

  • Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner in a rapidly changing marketplace and often ambiguous circumstances.

  • Demonstrated leadership in conflict resolution.

  • Social media expertise

  • Previous, relevant consumer marketing experience with strategic responsibilities

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner in a rapidly changing marketplace and often ambiguous circumstances.

Detail is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment.

 

Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.

Ability is required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment.

Problem-solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem-solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem-solving with equipment is limited.

Physical Demands:

Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 20% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy office environment.
