JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer directs the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders and the financial community while keeping the hospital CEO and Board of Trustees duly informed of the financial condition of the facility. Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate and insurance activities for the organization. Directs the Finance Accounting Team in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services. Appraises the organization’s financial position and issues systematic financial and operating reports. Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports. Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and operations in accordance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies, and procedures.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. Masters in accounting or healthcare administration and Certified Public Accountant strongly preferred.
Formal Training: Must have thorough knowledge of GAAP, finance, reimbursement, budgeting, credit, collection, and awareness of continuing changes that affect financial reporting. Excellent presentation skills and working with senior management and committees. Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Certified Public Accountant preferred.
Work Experience: Five (5) Years minimum experience as a Chief Financial Officer in a healthcare setting, preferably critical access, or hospital health system. At least three (3) years of leadership or oversight experience specific to the Business Office functions to ensure cash collection goals are met, net revenue is properly stated, and strategic planning. Must have a proven track record of Leading and Driving Change.
Computer Skills: Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and EMR database.
