Job Description

Position Summary:

The IT Security Specialist directs and implements the necessary controls and procedures to cost-effectively protect information system assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction. This role provides guidance and direction for the protection of information systems assets to other functional units. Additionally, this role provides reports to superiors regarding the effectiveness of data security and makes recommendations for the adoption of new policies and procedures.



Required Experience:

Prior experience support PCI DSS audits (internal and/or external)

Responsibilities:

Oversee the ETS PCI DSS compliance program.

Support the ETS FISMA (NIST 800-53) and ISO 27001 compliance programs

Participate in other ETS Information Security & Compliance initiatives as needed

Assist with the development and maintenance of information security policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.

Maintain current knowledge on a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic and network access

Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function

Education, Certifications, or Special Licenses:

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required

Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification or willingness to pursue certification is desirable

Relevant Years of Experience Required:

2+ years of direct PCI DSS audit support experience is required

2+ years supporting an education enterprise environment is desirable

Other Requirements (Specialized skill sets, behavioral/technical):

Obtain and maintain PCI ISA certification within 60 days of hire

Openness to obtain US Government Secret clearance as needed

General knowledge of security technologies and practices

Prior experience with systems analysis process and procedures

Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment

Must be a self-starter requiring little supervision to carry out duties

Excellent verbal and written and public speaking communication skills

Ability to interface with all levels of management

Ability to work effectively with technical and business staff
