The successful candidate will provide support for Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) in business analysis, system administration and application support. WAPA is part of the U.S. Department of Energy, it provides affordable, clean, secure and reliable hydropower to 700 utilities, customers and generators across 15 central and western states. WAPA markets this hydropower from 57 federal hydroelectric dams and multi-purpose water projects and delivers it through a more than 17,000-mile high-voltage transmission system, which represents a significant share of the West’s electric grid. WAPA’s customers, in turn, pass on the energy and benefits of hydropower to more than 40 million Americans.
The ideal candidate will work and reside in the Lakewood, CO area. However, work can be performed at a regional office in the following locations: Phoenix, AZ, Loveland, CO, Folsom, CA or Billings, MT.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the primary POC for end user support.
- Act as the liaison between functional users and technical support.
- Document business processes, system configurations, training materials, and other necessary documentation.
- Engage with vendor support to escalate incidents or issues, when necessary.
- Work with vendors and development team to install software patches, updates, and certificates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues by working with developers and users.
- Maintain metadata in applications: business objects, attributes, displays, objects.
- Server/database cleanup and maintenance, version updates, system documentation.
- Perform monthly patches to Windows.
- Coordinate with vendors, infrastructure, and network teams to install software, test new features, and maintain applications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- US Citizenship Required.
- Working knowledge of system administration, with a focus on troubleshooting.
- Experience writing runbooks, creating visio diagrams, and documenting processes.
- Working knowledge of databases & database administration.
- Working knowledge of operating systems.
- Experience providing end user application support.
- Experience with project planning and tracking.
- Good communicator.
- Good customer service experience.
Desired:
- Experience in the electrical utility industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 + years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with OATi or calculation engine-based applications.
- Familiarity with PowerBI.
- Familiarity with Itron MV90xi.
