Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be part of the Chief Accounting Officer's Rotational Program responsible for the accounting around both the operations and development entities within the organization. The staff accountant will gain exposure to various aspects of corporate accounting. This position reports to the GL Manager.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly close procedures and assist with GL and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Record journal entries, and record and amortize prepaid expenses
  • Support annual financial audit
  • Record in the accounting system (NetSuite) newly acquired fixed assets/intangible assets and those disposed
  • Assist with analysis of monthly operating expenses, including power, rent, insurance, and property taxes, and report on variances
  • Assist with monthly accruals to ensure cost are recorded in the correct accounting period
  • Record monthly depreciation and amortization expense
  • Reconcile the fixed asset register to the general ledger
  • Perform asset retirement obligation calculations for ARO-applicable assets
  • Carry out periodic reviews on intangible assets' impairment
  • Assists with the month-end financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Provides research and analysis to resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Coordinate accounting related matters with other departments and locations
  • Provide rotational support to various accounting functions including, but not limited to, revenue, financial reporting, and international accounting
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables
  • Superb ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/responsibilities
  • Superb ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from peers
  • Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to 'getting a job done'
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • 2+ years of related accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Candidates who are active CPA, have experience in Real Estate and/or working with NetSuite are strongly encouraged to apply

The preferred pay range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000. Compensation will be finalized after consideration of the successful applicant's prior work experience, education level and relevant education, and unique skills.
