Director, Solutions Architecture

The Director, Solutions Architecture will be a key member of the business development team during the pre-sales and sales processes helping accelerate the adoption of EdgeConneX (ECX) Solutions through customer sales, developing customer-facing solutions for new opportunities, building relationships with our clients’ technical and business teams, and providing guidance to the ECX Business Development teams. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Solutions Architecture and will have a hybrid schedule (home/office) once our offices reopen.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support global solution selling by architecting customer solutions that capture demand, increase data center density, and help attain corporate objectives
  • Lead pre-sales engineering activities including technical reviews and discovery, technical value proposition, architectural guidance, and ongoing customer relationships
  • Help support in proposal generation conjunction with the ECX Proposal Management team as the primary responder for all technical customer RFP questions. Participate and collaborate with Engineering, Information Technology Security Officers, Product, and other teams as necessary to drive proper solution development and recommendations
  • Provide an oral presentation as part of the proposal submittal and evaluation process, if required
  • Deliver guidance on Infrastructure Solutions concepts and translate the business and technical needs of the clients into specific requirements
  • Foster ongoing strategic customer success. Work closely with key customer executive decision makers on Solutions evaluations to ensure the Solutions/deliverables meets customers’ objectives
  • Develop pre-installation requirements for handoff to Customer Implementation and Project Management teams
  • Provide post-sales guidance on implementation of data center solutions as it relates to the specific customer requirements
  • Liaise with professional community; attend conferences and technical forums

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex project documents
  • Deep application software skills including: AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Flexibility to travel on short notice -- to include international travel. About 10% of travel time is expected.


  • 8+ years of experience in colocation, hosting, facilities, mission-critical construction or related fields
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Technical Lead for large Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems that support data centers
  • “Hands-on executive” with direct experience in sales engineering and/or design and construction of mission critical facilities, particularly data centers, a strong plus
