Job Description

 

Ecological Concerns Incorporated (ECI) has an immediate opening in our Santa Cruz office for a creative, collaborative and independent landscape designer. We are accepting applications for full-time employment. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are accepting applications for remote employment at this time. Company office space is available for personal use as needed and is available for team collaboration once the C-19 restrictions have ended.

ECI is a design-build firm specializing in sustainable site, green building and habitat restoration projects throughout northern California with our primary practice in the Monterey and San Francisco Bay areas. Our project types range from sustainable sites within the built environment to natural habitats, brownfield remediation, mine site reclamation and beyond. We work with clients ranging from residential to large commercial and tech organizations, municipal and federal government agencies and non-profit organizations to produce high-quality solutions to complex environmental issues in remediation and habitat restoration. 

Our landscape architecture studio is integrated with our restoration ecology group and we closely collaborate with botanists, wildlife ecologists and peers in other design disciplines such as hydrology, geomorphology and engineering. 

The position involves analyzing sites, creating conceptual designs and presentation materials, preparing construction documents, overseeing construction and conducting long-term monitoring.  

Required qualifications: 

  • Academic degree in landscape architecture, MLA preferred but not required. 

  • 3 years of working in an office environment is required 

  • Experience in AutoCAD, LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS and hand rendering 

  • Strong design, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in landscape design and construction documentation

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

  • Understanding of ecological and restoration processes

  • Cost Estimating Experience
