READY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?  The mission of Eco Adventures is to offer hands-on learning experiences that provide educational and enriching ecological experiences to students of all ages.  The purpose of these programs is to create positive, personal experiences for participants while inspiring them to make a difference in our planet. Students will have the rare opportunity to encounter extraordinary animals, discover various native and international ecological habitats, explore our environment through various art forms, and learn about ecological, technical, and scientific research projects around the world.

The after school program will engage and inspire students to develop life skills, presentation skills, knowledge, social skills and mentor and develop young teens into volunteer and possible future staff positions at Eco Adventures.
 

This position involves developing and teaching a variety of education programs to children and patrons of all ages.  Particularly for afterschool programs and coordinating Volunteer/Jr Assistant/intern program.  Schedule is Mondays-Fridays from aprox 11:00-6:30pm (or earlier depending on booked programs) and may involve some weekends.  Other programs may apply such as homeschool programs, outreaches and fieldtrips during the week.  Also may lead at special events and festivals, birthday parties, summer camps, school programs, scout programs, sleepovers, and other special events.  Must have previous public speaking/teaching/instruction experience with children.  Will be working with animals such as reptiles, amphibians, parrots, insects, arachnids, and mammals.  No experience with animals necessary.  Duties also includes the coordination of the Jr. Assistants/Volunteer and intern program. This entail communications, mentoring them through the after school program, recruiting and hiring, interviews, performance reviews, leading training and workshop sessions, and social outings.  Other duties include:  program development, staff supervision, organization and storage of materials and artifacts and assisting with animal husbandry, program logistics, and special events planning.

We are looking for an engaging, FUN people-person persona, proven self-motivated, responsible, and natural leader with public speaking/working with children experience a must.

 

Salary and Benefits:  Salary varies depending on experience. Afterschool Program hours training start at $14 per hour with bonus and salary increase opportunities. Once trained, salary will increase to $15.00+ per hour, depending on experience. Mileage compensation is granted at $.40 per mile to and from location if you drive your own car.  Intensive training will be provided. Opportunities for advancement in a growing company.
