This position will be required to travel to their assigned programs.

Position Concept
The Training Specialist is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, and facilitating training and learning activities to assigned Eckerd staff and/or assigned programs. Primary duties will be to coordinate and/or facilitate training for staff and assigned facilities in the fulfillment of all contracted training requirements, functional/job related learning requirements, Eckerd required learning activities, and professional development learning activities. 

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with Program Management to assess and plan training needs and requirements.
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire and annual training as required.
  • Based on need, coordinate the development and implementation of on-the-job and site-based training programs for facilities.
  • Deliver entry level and advanced training and learning activities; ensuring that Program training objectives are met.
  • Adapt and interpret training materials to meet the need of the training audience.
  • Evaluate training and learning activities and make suggestions to improve design and efficiencies.
  • Through office visits and training facilitation assignments, evaluate and report on the maintenance of comprehensive training records at Program locations for all staff.
  • Complete event level training/learning documentation requirements and post within the LMS or other designated area.
  • Complete monthly training and activity reports.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver training to locations in our contracted Juvenile Justice residential and community-based programs.
  • Conduct Motivational Interviewing for staff to satisfy new hire, annual, and contractual training requirement.
  • Conduct Employer Driven Employment Model for Justice Involved Youth for staff to satisfy new hire, annual, and contractual training requirements. 

Other Duties Include, But Not Limited To

  • Participate in training and development activities as required.
  • Assist with preparation and execution of internal and external audits.
  • Report any acts, incidents or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth relationships.
  • Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per Eckerd policy and state guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications
Education:  Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited College or University, in human services, psychology, sociology or related field required.
Experience:  Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in field. Training delivery and facilitation experience required. Crisis Intervention, CPR and First Aid certifications a plus. Motivational Interviewing (MI) certified trainer preferred.
Skills:  Highly organized with strong time management skills, and must be self-directed. Working knowledge of state and local agencies (i.e., Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, Department of Justice, and Department of Labor) a plus. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. Requires proficient use in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word. Ideal candidate will have skills surrounding group dynamics, group work, counseling, and adult learning theory.
Travel: Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Must have and maintain an appropriate and valid state driver’s license.
Other:  Must meet state criminal background check requirements.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and demonstrate effective training and restraint techniques. Ability to swim and demonstrate water safety.
