Under general administrative direction, administer the delivery of early childhood education as part of the Head Start program.
1.Plan, implement, evaluate and supervise a developmentally appropriate and inclusive educational curriculum for young children, in accordance with Department of Education Performance Standards, policies and procedures and Easter Seals Southern California (ESSC) standards of conduct.
2.Plan and organize program elements relating to the delivery of services for Head Start Programs. Provide oversight for supply and equipment purchasing within the budgetary constraints. Responsible for facilities and equipment maintenance.
3.Serve as service coordinator for assigned children in the classroom throughout the child’s enrollment in the program. Support primary care-giving associates in meeting the personal care of children.
4.Ensure that classroom therapy and individual child goals are implemented. Maintain weekly lesson plans, progress and anecdotal notes, and current paperwork.
5.Coordinate and supervise bi-monthly classroom team meetings. Provide input to evaluate teaching assistants, volunteers and college interns. Read, implement and provide training to designated associates regarding applicable service areas.
6.Actively participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, in-service training, program meetings and team meetings. Participate in planning associates and parent training activities, parent meetings and workshops.
1.Knowledge of policies and procedures of the California Department of Education, Child Development Division and the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing program regulations, funding terms and conditions (Title 5 and Title 22.)
2.Bachelor’s degree in early education or similar field.
3.Possession of Site Supervisor permit or higher and 24 units ECCE/CD including core courses (Child Growth & Development, Child/Family /Community, Infant/Toddler and Programs/curriculum). Experience teaching in a preschool or infant/toddler classroom setting, which includes 175 days of 3+ hours per day within a 4 year period.
4.Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. Must relate well to children and their families.
5.Exercise sound judgment, establish and meet timelines, plan. Coordinate and implement school site programs.
6.Possession of pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR and first aid certificate.
7.Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift 40 lbs. continuously. Ability to reach, bend, stoop squat. Also possess fine manual dexterity, can push, pull, talk/hear, with near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
8.Ability to pass post-offer medical examination and test for tuberculosis.
9.Ability to obtain fingerprint clearance per Easter Seals Southern California and/or program requirements.
