We currently seek a Service Manager for our dealership located in Portsmouth Virginia. If you are looking to relocate, than please consider us! The weather year-round is mild with still having the enjoyment of the seasons!

We are a commercial truck body builder and dealership serving the Towing, Auto Transport, and Waste Collection industries more the 25 years. In that time, we have become an industry leader known for producing specialized commercial vehicles that are built to last.

As a body builder we join new pre-built commercial truck chassis to a variety of specialized body types for the industries we serve. As a dealership we customize these vehicles to fit our customers’ needs offering new and used trucks to the towing, auto hauler, and waste collection industries.

Our Service & Production facility is equipped with 18 state of the art maintenance bays which include; (6) tractor/trailer drive through mechanical bays, (1) front end alignment bay, (2) welding drive through bays, and (2) truck wash bays which include frame alignment tooling and overhead lifts and (1) Quality Control bay. Our Service department, it is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all inventoried vehicles and outside customers. Our Production department mounts specialized standard and heavy-duty wrecker bodies to new chassis. The facility is open Monday through Saturday 7am to 4pm.

This role requires strategic vision and a demonstrated ability for planned execution. This individual will need to be able to plan and adjust production on a weekly/daily basis while understanding those effects on long term objectives. This individual needs to have the ability to inspire and motivate team members as well as management skills to deliver continuous improvement and people development while leading to achieve best in industry service and productivity.

Responsibilities:

Administrative:

• Hiring, orienting, and training of technical employees to ensure a competent workforce.
• Understanding and identifying the correct candidates for the production output required.
• Develop employee career paths for Service and Production and help structure incentive plans.
• Review personnel competencies and assign each to a step within the career path.
• Oversee the regulation of work shifts for Production and Service.
• Monitor a shop environment to ensure operations are in compliance with OSHA health and safety standards.
• Procure materials and equipment required for Production and Service.
• Oversees P&L for Production and Service.
• Fostering a team atmosphere.
• Other operational duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Service

• Oversee daily Service operations to ensure an industry leading customer service experience.
• Directing the Assistant Service Manager in overseeing technicians, welders, service writers, shop foreman, 24 hour road call technician, and replenishing parts for service repair.
• Design and implement processes to ensure a quality solution for every unit serviced.
• Design and implement plans for increasing Service revenue promoting new services, identifying incremental income opportunities, and developing customer loyalty incentives.
• Develop a training program for Service which promotes efficiency and productivity.
• Oversees the Wash/Detail Coordinator foster productivity and quality results every wash.
• Ability to understand, communicate, and evaluate all vendor and warranty guidelines.
• Work with Marketing team to create material to advertise specials, flyers, ads, and website to build and maintain customers.

Education/Training:

Successful candidate will possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, minimum 5-7 years service supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Technical Skills: skilled in operating and examining production equipment for faults. Adept in the body manufacturer build specifications and chassis OEM service requirements.
• Organizational Skills: They are adept at coordinating the different stages of service to ensure seamless operations.
