FLSA Status:                                          Hourly, Non-exempt

Review Process:                                  Location Manager/General Manager



The Mechanic will be responsible for supplying their own hand tools, small equipment, and performing all mechanical work perform at the location in which he/she is certified to perform. Their duties include inspecting the vehicle’s mechanical components and its engine, diagnosing problems with vehicles, and performing maintenance and repair work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles.

  • Tools
  1. Hand tools
    • The mechanic is responsible for supplying their own tools that are needed to perform the mechanical work that they have ASE certifications for. 
    • Basic Specialized equipment such as lifts, alignment machines, battery charger/tester, AC recycler, Etc., to be supplied by East Bay Tire Co.
    • East Bay Tire Co. is not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen tools.
  2. House Keeping of shop
    • It is the Mechanic’s responsibility to keep the shop and surrounding area clean and always maintained.
    • All tools must be put away before the end of the shift
    • The technician must ensure that his/her area is always safe, and any safety issues are reported immediately. 
  3. Mechanical work requirements and related job duties
    • The technician must be able to perform all mechanical work in which he/she is certified in. We require minimum ASE certifications in brakes and suspension & steering.
    • Technicians must be able to properly lookup labor hours using computer software provided by the company (Mitchell). Training will be provided if necessary. 
    • Technicians must be able to properly diagnose mechanical issues brought into the shop.
    • Tire-related work must be done if no mechanical work is available and tire shop has existing work.
    • Checking in & putting away tires & service supplies if no mechanical work is available and assistance is needed in these areas.
    • Turn in service orders to be invoiced
    • The technician will be required to work a 40-hour workweek unless previously approved by the manager.



•              Must have at least 5 years of mechanical experience in Brakes, and suspension.

•              Must have current and valid ASE certification in at least Brakes and suspension.

•              Experience in the tire industry is preferred but not required.

•              Must have a strong commitment to achieving goals.

•              Head Mechanics must be able to manage, train, and motivate employees to their full potential.

•              Must have great communication/interpersonal skills with employees, all levels of management, and customers.

•              Must be able to meet deadlines as needed and ensure accuracy of all work that the location produces (internally and externally)

•              Must be motivated with a good business sense and understanding

•              Must have good decision making/judgment skills

•              Must be extremely organized, detail orientated.

•              Must be a team player, with the initiative and ability to do what it takes to get the job done 

•              Computer skills with a variety of programs including Excel as well as Mitchell part and labor guide systems is a plus

•              Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

•              Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds 

•              High school diploma or GED equivalent required

•              Subject to random drug testing

•              Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
