EarthCam is Looking for a Linux Server Administrator to join our growing team!
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure 24/7 operation of highly available customer-facing and internal server environments at multiple data centers
- Optimize performance, reliability, survivability and security of each host and its associated services
- Provide technical support to programmers/developers for deployment or modification of their dev environments and ensure that developers are using their resources effectively
- Research, design and implement new technologies, deploy servers and services, coordinate with internal teams as required for business initiatives, product lifecycles, infrastructure improvements, or security compliance
- Manage backups and ensure disaster recovery compliance
- Manage access to servers and services
- Respond to outages as necessary
- Create and enforce policies, procedures, and documentation in areas that need improvement
- Provide innovative solutions to build and scale infrastructure by staying current with evolving technologies
Requirements/Skills:
- Extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or its derivatives (CentOS) and VMware ESXi
- Knowledge of underlying hardware/infrastructure and monitoring thereof
- Administration of bind and zone files, Apache, nginx, NTP, sendmail, Java, Wowza, Docker, syslog
- Networking – understanding subnetting/vlans, bonding network intefaces/lacp, multihomed devices, adding routes, etc.
- Thorough understanding of NFS, Samba, file systems and volumes, LVM
- MySQL/MariaDB configuration, performance monitoring, and managing access privileges
- Configuration management and monitoring services such as Nagios, SNMP, SolarWinds
- Programming or scripting experience in perl, python, php, or shell script
- Experience with Jira
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across the entire stack, identify the root cause, and interface with appropriate resources for resolution
- Ability to review logs and utilization data and take action to remediate issue
- Ability to automate processes and quickly find solutions to unfamiliar problems
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent degree
- 10+ years experience in Linux system administration
