Director of Human Resources

EMSL Analytical, Inc., one the largest environmental testing firms in the United States, is currently seeking a Full Time Director of Human Resources with a strong concentration in payroll. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Director of Human Resources will oversee Human Resources functions and will guide and manage employment related services, company policies, payroll, and the benefits programs for the entire organization. This person will be responsible for both U.S. and Canadian operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily workflow of the department and manages staff of 5-6 employees.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Essential Functions:
Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resources compliance and strategy needs.
Administers or oversees the administration of human resources programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance, recognition, and morale; workers compensation, occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Manage payroll and time keeping systems in regards to processing, updating, and maintaining all federal payroll government compliance.
Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS).
Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
Provides support to all levels of management to effectively execute the HR functions of the business.
Performs other duties as required.

Proficiency with payroll systems.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s systems.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
At least 10 to 15 years of experience resulting in comprehensive knowledge of HR operations, programs, technology and service delivery in a growing organization.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
PHR/SPHR certification highly desirable.
Experience with multi-state and/or Canadian employment laws is highly preferred.
Experience with Paycom Payroll system a plus.

Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., extra hours and/or weekend work may be required to meet business needs.
