Job Description

1st or 3rd shift

4 day work weeks: Monday - Thursday

1st shift: 6:00 am – 4:00 pm

3rd shift: 8:00 pm – 6:00 am

Operate CNC machine tools such as lathes and milling machines.


  • Operate machines, load parts, prove programs, operate controls, and set offsets.
  • Ensure all set-ups are documented and proven programs are saved at completion.
  • Read and edit G code as needed.
  • Deburr and inspect parts using precision measuring equipment to ensure conformance.
  • Follow safety policies, quality inspection and documentation procedures at all times.
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Observe operation of machine and verify conformance work pieces to specifications.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities,controls or control media.
  • Suggest and implement improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum 3 years experience preferred in set-up of CNC lathes, CNC horizontal milling and vertical milling machines.

  • Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments: Calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales.

  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories.

  • Understand and follow simple instructions.

  • Ability to present information to others, written or oral.

  • Basic math skills with whole numbers,fractions, and decimals.

  • Understand and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to talk or hear.
  • Stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Occasionally sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
