Job Description

This position involves a contract with the State of Connecticut, and as such, all employees are required to comply with COVID-related Connecticut mandates which require:

1) a one-time verification of vaccination OR

2) weekly proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test

Do you have a passion for making a difference in the life of someone impacted by the opioid epidemic? As the Peer Navigator, you will assist individuals affected by the opioid epidemic in securing and maintaining occupations that will provide both a living wage and a solid direction forward.

Successful Elements:

  • Provide case management services
    • Develop Individualized Employment Plans with each student
    • Utilize techniques to deliver customer-focused, customer driven goal planning and goal review
    • Complete all paperwork as required
    • Complete data entry of registration, service authorizations, and case progress notes in systems such as CTHires
  • Create and maintain an environment that promotes opportunities for quality interaction and learning through:
    • Establishing clear expectations and encouraging client accountability
    • Maintaining an awareness of differences in individual learning styles and strengths
  • Model positive and professional behavior
    • Demonstrate positive, pro-social interactions with participants, staff and community representatives
    • Use language reflective of a commitment to diversity; demonstrate cultural competence
    • Model respect and professionalism in all situations
  • Demonstrate allegiance to the policies, procedures and expectations of EDSI as well as partner agency
    • Maintain timely and complete documentation
    • Participate in required program and community meetings
    • Collaborate effectively and communicate proactively with staff and participants
    • Complete weekly direct reporting on program data metrics
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • Must be a current dislocated worker participant enrolled in the WIOA DW program
  • Willing to or be interested in training as, or in the process of being trained as, a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with a National Certification from the CCB (CT Certification Board)
    Personal Experience with addiction and recovery services
  • Experience in training, education or career development
  • Able demonstrate a positive professional attitude
  • Experience in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work with little supervision and demonstrate strong initiative and problem solving
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, education, training, human resources, liberal arts or related area is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle
  • Must be able to travel throughout the North Central to provide services
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
