Job Description
The Senior DBA will be a part of our IT and work in support of Reporting, Pricing, Analytics, Operational and Infrastructure initiatives. The Senior DBA will be responsible for developing an understanding of data and information needs, identifying solutions and improve the quality of service while providing support through the logical and physical design of databases. The Sr. DBA will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of the company databases and guarantee the data is stored securely and efficiently. The Sr. DBA will also provide strategic guidance and implementation of the corporate data warehouse and the corresponding data feeds. The Senior DBA will develop new T-SQL scripts and stored procedures, as well as support existing scripts/procedures.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Installing, designing and maintaining database system software and implementing database security.
  • Monitoring and analyzing database performance and ensuring effective and efficient utilization of database systems/processes.
  • Developing and implementing T-SQL Scripts and stored procedures that match business requirements
  • Maintaining database dictionaries and support tools; developing and maintaining accurate system documentation.
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of strategic, architectural and tactical plans for the database and data warehouse environments; being conversant with, and cognizant of, the future direction of systems, how that direction impacts the company and how future and current database systems can be exploited for the company's benefit.
  • Providing technical leadership on database systems and solutions. Providing individual mentoring and training on databases and tools. Recommending, testing, and evaluating new technologies, software tools, and required skill sets; recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Implementing a Business Continuity solution for the database environment, including the installation and configuration of database software and replication processes.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
  • Five or more years of SQL server database experience as Database Administrator (DBA), including experience installing, configuring, designing, patching, archiving, and monitoring to include performance tuning databases with indexing
  • Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server.
  • Deep experience in T-SQL and stored procedures.
  • Experience with backup/recovery best practices.
  • Extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management tools.
  • Microsoft certifications (preferred).
  • Experience running and creating SQL Server health assessments reports/SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report development/experience writing complex SQL Queries.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail on each project
  • Ability to write effective technical documentation
  • Ability to communicate with the customer's technical staff
  • Ability to communicate with business stakeholders in order to understand business needs
  • Experience with modern operations technologies and network troubleshooting
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, or past commercial implementation experience in the field
  • Strong communication skills, good organizational skills, and ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast paced team environment.
  • Must be able to and comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct.
  • Must be able to interact well with others.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence.
  • Ability to work with groups of people such as other departments and communicate known concepts.
  • Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis. Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
