Job Description
Job Summary

As an EDI Specialist, you will develop, coordinate, implement, and manage EDI Trading Partnerships. System management activities include troubleshooting EDI issues as they arise, in addition to performing translator maintenance and pursuing system improvement opportunities.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary link between the business and EDI enabled customers
  • Work with Director of IT to determine new integration opportunities and develop corresponding guidelines and specifications for new transaction implementations
  • Establish and build relationships with customers
  • Analyze data exchanged with partners or customers to observe data records to note any errors and correct any failures
  • Work with associates at all levels to support accurate and effective EDI integration with the Warehouse Management System and future applications
  • Assist with configuring the Warehouse Management System interface to complete full cycle EDI mapping and data transfer to and from foreign host systems
  • Complete full cycle and regression testing prior to implementing mapping changes or onboarding new partnerships
  • Maintain Gentran and to strive to provide 100% translator uptime utilizing scheduled maintenance windows to patch and upgrade the application. Routine maintenance activities include data archiving and proactively monitoring system health and any transaction failures.
  • Integration opportunities are not always necessarily EDI; Out of the box or new ideas are welcome and encouraged.
  • Identify and communicate ideas to streamline or improve integration or existing IT processes and procedures.
Education/Experience/Skills Abilities
  • 5+ years of industry experience working with EDI technologies
  • IBM Gentran certification ( and +2 years) or 4+ years Gentran development (mapping) / maintenance experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technical and business requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand complex technical documents and procedures.
  • Familiarity with AS2, AS3, VAN, sFTP connectivity preferred.
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn JDA WM Integrator (Warehouse Management system Interface).
  • Development experience with the following transaction sets preferred: 943/944/856/940/945/947/846.
  • College degree preferred but not required.
  • Relevant experience with 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) or food-based logistics / supply chain preferred.
