Dynamis, Inc. is seeking a Jr. Technical Editor/Writer to provide technical writing/editing support to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). SEVPs mission falls within the overall ICE mission to promote homeland security and public safety through the criminal and civil enforcement of federal laws governing border control, customs, trade, and immigration. SEVP provides integrity to the U.S. immigration system by collecting, maintaining, and analyzing information so only legitimate non-immigrant students or exchange visitors gain entry into the United States.


Writing will include but not be limited to developing and preparing written material, such as Q&A documents, policy guidance, and other content or material upon request. Editing will include the planning, coordinating, or editing of content or material for internal and external publication, as well as the review of content for possible publication. This role requires an understanding of how to effectively work within a dynamic team environment to develop, write, and edit various documentation in support of SEVP’s Policy Section.


Responsibilities

Review, edit and coordinate the production of various documents including but not limited to policy documents, regulations, operating manuals, training materials, and other working documents on complex mission issues

  • Ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of high-quality technical documents that meet regulatory, branding, and legal requirements as applicable to DHS, ICE, and SEVP
  • Research, draft, edit and/or review reports, Federal regulations, or other working documents
  • Assist in writing/editing drafts of marketing materials, briefing materials, and PowerPoint presentations
  • Research, analyze, develop, review and maintain SEVP policy and planning documents and directives, as well as rules, regulations, standards, statutes, and official guidance
  • Coordinate the production and review of Federal regulations, operating manuals, training materials, and other working documents on complex immigration issues to support Federal Government staff
  • Review published materials to determine relevancy to existing research to make recommendations
  • Analyze, track, and compile data using Excel spreadsheets and other tools in support of complex immigration-related projects and priorities, then make recommendations to SEVP Policy leadership and staff based on the results of that analysis
Requirements:
  • 5 Years of relevant experience
  • BS/BA in Business Management, Public Policy, English, Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to create high-value deliverables
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills
  • Research skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to understand technology
  • Ability to translate complex, highly technical messaging into plain language content
  • Ability to create messaging for specific audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Work as part of an integrated team with team members that are both locally and remotely located


Preferred

  • Active ICE Suitability and/or Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience working in the Homeland Security context
  • Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Knowledge of the U.S. immigration system
