Sr. Design Engineer/Project Manager

The Senior Design Manager / Project Manager is responsible for the project management, leadership, profitability and client management for a design team. Responsibilities include project management, business development, financial performance, loss prevention, yearly budgeting, workload and staff balancing, preparation of technical proposals, monitoring of project budgets, staff supervision and scheduling of key projects.


The Project Manager will maintain presence and leadership throughout the regions where we do business through involvement in civic, professional and business organizations. This is a leadership position that also includes mentoring and developing staff. 


• Project Management in the areas of Land Development Plan Design, Stormwater Management Design, Water and Sanitary Sewer Design and Erosion and Sedimentation Control Design.
• Manage team assignments and balance workload in a deadline driven environment.
• Business development.
• Quality Control.
• Permitting of federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
• Prepare presentations to various land use related boards.
• Prepare proposals.
• Financial management of projects including accounts receivable.
• Budgeting and scheduling of projects.
• Client management and overall satisfaction.
• Mentor and develop staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 4+ years’ experience in Civil Site Engineering (residential and/or commercial/industrial/office site design and permitting experience).
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Familiar with AutoCAD. Civil 3D experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Truck and Turning & Modeling software is a plus.
• In depth knowledge of the planning and zoning entitlement approval process.
• Knowledge of Hydraulic and Stormwater Design Programs.
• Proficient in design and drafting capabilities.
• Proficient grading and drainage design skills.
• Utility design experience including pump station and force mains.
• Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
• Proficient in the use of available mapping websites and code research for due diligence and site investigation purposes.
• Construction oversight experience for site work.
• Proficient in the use of ICPR 4 preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Independent and critical thinking abilities.
• Superior organizational and delegation ability.
• Ability to work and lead in a team oriented environment with a focus on staff development and mentoring.
• Client management experience.
