Job Description
Salary: $80k-$85k BOE

The DuPont Clinic is a referral center for all-trimester abortion and ultrasound-guided procedures, including for abnormal or high risk pregnancies, and for people with complex medical situations who may have difficulty accessing care.  We provide the highest level of medical care and a private experience focused on the individual needs of each patient. The Accountant is responsible for management and development of the DuPont Clinic’s financial systems, as well as essential accounting functions. These functions include collecting account receivable, accounts payable, payroll, budget analysis and planning.The accountant must maintain a high level of professionalism while maintaining the highest level of patient confidentiality and customer service. All debt-related matters will be under their purview, and they will communicate regularly with various funding agencies.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

Planning and Analysis

  • Provide financial information to support the management team.
  • Continuously analyze the overall financial health of the clinic and inform the management team of potential risks
  • Share quarterly reviews of the financial health and risk identification with the management team.
  • Analyze expenditures to identify areas of change and potential for improved efficiency


  • Responsible for verification of charges and payments within the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Coordinate and clarify with the director, when necessary, on fee or payment information that seems incomplete or is lacking for proper account adjudication. 
  • Responsible for correcting, completing, and processing invoices for all payers.
  • Perform follow up with proper funders/agencies on unpaid accounts identified through aging reports.
  • Assist in reconciling deposit and patient collections.
  • Assist patients who wish to submit claims to their insurance carrier, as the clinic does not participate with any insurance carriers.
  • Receiving, verifying, and paying invoices due to suppliers.
  • Helps maintain vendor correspondence via phone or email.
  • Investigates and resolves problems associated with payment of invoices. 
  • Prepares check requests, wire transfers, and ACH transactions.
  • Process and communicate daily with billing calls and questions from patients and agencies.
  • Maintain patient information confidential.
  • Process payroll and monthly closing.
  • Monitor clinic banking transactions and agreements.
  • Facilitate audits of all financial information.

Reporting, budgeting, and planning

  • Prepare and maintain the clinic’s annual operating budget
  • Prepare and facilitate the review of actual to budget expenditures for management team
  • Prepare and revise any grant proposal budgets and financial reporting
  • Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the Clinic’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related (accounting, finance, budgeting) experience in a business, medical, or technical environment.
  • Experience developing and managing operating budgets.
  • Customer service driven.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong team player. 
  • Ability to learn quickly, build and maintain long term relationships and work with minimal supervision. 
  • Strong commitment to a person's bodily autonomy
  • Computer proficiency and expertise with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
  • Understanding of medical terminology (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting and/or experience with an Electronic Medical Record (preferred)
  • Previous experience in abortion care or reproductive health (strongly preferred) 

Physical and Work Environment

  • This is an exempt, full-time hybrid position.
  • Has a moderately high level of social interaction. 
  • Is occasionally placed in difficult situations in dealing respectfully with patient’s questions over finances.
  • Communicate with patients, coworkers, and agencies daily by email, telephone, or in person.
  • Write letters and memos often.
  • Work is conducted indoors, in a shared office space, with some distractions. 
  • Tasks can be repetitive, such as entering numbers into the computer.
  • May work overtime at the end of the fiscal year or during tax season.
  • This position requires the ability to work under stress and handle multiple project deadlines.  
  • The position may require moderate lifting.
