Seasonal on-call, non-benefited position expected to work 40 hours per week from mid-October through mid-November.
This position provides support to the Tax Department in the preparation, processing, organizing, and maintenance of information, records and materials. This includes typing, data entry or word processing on a typewriter or computer keyboard; filing, photocopying, receiving/receipting payments, scanning, recordkeeping, receptionist and/or clerical related duties, communicating information to others and appropriately receiving, screening, reviewing and verifying documents or materials.
Essential Job Duties:
+ Accurately type, enter and retrieve data, and process complex or technical documents and materials.
+ Interpret information requiring considerable knowledge of departmental policy and procedure in order to provide assistance, exchange information and solve problems.
+ Perform indexing, filing and/or recordkeeping duties, conduct file and record searches; screen, review and/or compare documents or materials; examine and verify forms for completeness;
+ Operate a variety of office equipment which includes automated and/or computerized equipment utilizing specialized databases, spreadsheets and systems, entering and retrieving a variety of data to a specific system; review and verify resulting reports and/or printouts for accuracy; make copies and assemble information; may be required to record and transcribe meeting minutes;
+ Courteously greet and assist the public in person and by telephone; screen callers and visitors and respond as appropriate;
+ Collect and record fees, payments, or other revenue, issue receipts and post fees and other payments to various departmental, fiscal or other records in accordance with established bookkeeping techniques, following all cash handling practices and procedures; may be asked to maintain accounting records, vouchers, and/or code revenue data;
+ Pick up, deliver, open, sort, stamp, stack, deliver, distribute, and/or otherwise process department documentation, incoming/outgoing mail, materials, or supplies from outside sources as directed;
+ Consult with program and office staff to establish and revise support systems, files and recordkeeping procedures to meet specific needs; and other related duties as needed.
Requires regular and consistent attendance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation or equivalency plus three years clerical experience of a progressively responsible nature, including customer service and working in an office setting; or any combination of coursework, experience and training which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and ability necessary to perform the duties of the position, including senior-level competency using computers, spreadsheets, databases and other software programs typically used in an office environment.
Work is performed in either an office environment or in the field. Work is generally sedentary; however, most positions require bending, hearing voice conversation, speaking in person and via telephone; keyboarding, kneeling, working with hand-held devices, lifting materials up to 30 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing or sitting for long periods of time, viewing computer screens, and walking. Some positions may have long periods of telephone contact from the public. Some assignments may involve working in an environment which involves everyday risks or discomforts and possible adverse weather conditions requiring safety precautions.
