DON Management is currently seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our team! The Construction Project Manager is responsible for coordinating construction activities between several residential and commercial construction projects, with objectives of safety, quality, timeliness and cost-effective completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties as assigned.
Develop scope of work and timelines for construction projects.
Provide management of construction crews and ensure crews are properly staffed and efficiently utilizing each crew members skills.
Work with construction crews related to coordination of field inspections and sign-offs for construction projects.
Determine when subcontractors are needed, develop scope work, and acquire bids.
Manage performance of subcontractors to ensure adherence to safety, quality, schedules, budgets, cost effective means and methods.
Ensure projects are delivered on time and under budget.
Responsible to ensure compliance with building codes and building permit conditions
Proactively resolve problems and coordinate activities with the construction crews.
Responsible to work with project team to ensure that construction crews are integrated into the planning, scheduling, and cost tracking process.
Ensure crews obtain all construction materials in a timely manner.
Accountable to monitor inventory and track materials.
Responsible for the coordination of construction schedules with other construction projects within the company.
Provide accurate inputs related to the budget process to providing field estimates, resource needs, and oversight of the construction budget.
Participate in project negotiation and joint planning efforts for construction projects.
Proactively identify construction risks during the planning, execution and construction phases and eliminate risks and execute risk mitigation plans.
Safety: Maintain safety awareness and ensure contractors comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures to assure a safe working environment at the construction site, including compliance with OSHA. Properly wear and care for applicable safety gear and equipment. Identify and communicate unsafe conditions to Contractors, Project Manager and assure safety concerns and issues are resolved.
Ensure all construction crews are managing the project and construction resources within the schedule and budget.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree with at least five years related experience and/or training in construction management; Associates Degree with a minimum of 10 years related management experience; High School or equivalent with the completion of the relevant progression program and 12 years relevant management experience required; or combination of education and experience.
Ability to effectively manage a construction crew.
Ability to use construction estimation software.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Must be willing to travel to construction sites on a day to day basis, as well as attend meetings.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of construction management practices applicable to residential and commercial construction.
Knowledge of government regulations, including State building codes and OSHA.
Working knowledge of budget preparation and administration.
Demonstrated ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
Excellent written and verbal communications, including correspondence, reports, and other business documents.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Working knowledge of best practices in safety policies and procedures.
Effective leadership skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong computer software skills.
