Job brief

Reporting directly to the General Manager the Senior Operations Manager will develop and implement manufacturing schedules and procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity and minimize disruptions (budgets, schedule, and planning).

Ultimately, you should be able to ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all production processes are running smoothly and promptly.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, evaluate, and develop a team of managers/supervisors who are responsible for various production activities such as assembly, machine operation, processing, or packaging.
  • Liaise with functional or operational managers (for example in supply and logistics, or sales) to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities
  • Maintains production equipment so that it meets organization standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime.
  • Administers training programs to ensure proper operations, preventive maintenance, and repair programs.
  • Delegate production assignments to appropriate teams and personnel.
  • Planning and organizing production schedules
  • Estimating, negotiating, and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers
  • Coordinate production activity for manufacturing, managing inventory and supplies
  • Schedule accurate lead times based on various factors of production
  • Work with vendors and coordinate the production of custom pieces and ensure specifications are met
  • Process orders for production and track progress to completion, conferring with department supervisors as to the progress of each order
  • Inspect items throughout the stages of the production process to ensure customer specifications are being met and initiate corrections in a timely manner
  • Work accurately within the technology and data management systems, updating and assigning the use of stock, the control of inventory, and maintaining key data fields to ensure accurate reporting can be generated
  • Train and manage production team members and set goals for professional development
  • Monitoring productivity and progress
  • Confer with the product development team in producing new product samples, and delegate product development production to the appropriate department and team members
  • Plan and execute production activity
  • Oversee the execution of orders according to company standards and customer's specifications
  • Delegate and monitor the production activity of production managers and production team members
  • Effectively communicate with various company representatives including but not limited to: sales representatives, warehouse, department managers, internal departments (accounting, shipping and receiving, etc), third party vendors
  • Monitor and manage inventory, maintain data within software systems and local network
  • Observe standards for accurate accounting, perform visual and tactile inspections of each piece throughout various stages of production, and participate in the product development process

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline preferred
  • 5 plus years in a senior management role in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience supervising manufacturing employees with a knowledge of hazmat, ISO, distribution, and safety programs
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with manufacturing methods, process improvements and procedures.
  • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics (e.g., SAP, ERP, CRM).
  • Experience using Epicor is highly beneficial
  • Technical process management
  • Outstanding communication ability
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
