Seeking an Entry level Pre- Press Technician to join our team!
What we expect:Operates printing press to produce published materials.Review job requirements to understand the scope and parameters of print jobs.Prepares, aligns, and configures machinery, ink, rollers, and paper.Inspect proof sheets to evaluate the quality of printing.Adjusts press machinery to meet quality standards and specifications.Maintains inventory of supplies needed to operate printing presses.Troubleshoots issues with printing press and makes basic repairs.Performs routine maintenance on presses.Informs supervisor and/or lead of problems with equipment or materials.Proofread and perform quality control of texts and images.Enter, position, and alter text size, using computers, to make up and arrange pages so that printed materials can be produced.Perform â€œpreflightâ€ check of required font, graphic, text and image files to ensure completeness prior to deliver to printer.Operate presses to print proofs, monitoring printing quality to ensure that is adequate.Examine photographic images for obvious imperfections.Operate automatic and manual cutting machines to prepare printed transfers for pressing.Operate and maintain a variety of printing and color management equipment, such as Eye One.Manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks based on production needs.Analyze originals and production samples to evaluate color density, gradation highlights, middle tones, and shadows, using densitometers and knowledge of light and color.Perform minor deletions, additions, or corrections to print files.Work on special projects to facilitate product development and process improvement.Work in other production departments as needed to facilitate efficient workflow and adherence to deadlines.Prepare cutting of graphics, text, and images transfers for appropriate departments Replace rolls as needed
Things you need to qualify:5+ years in production knowledge and industry related; Associateâ€™s degree in related field, preferredStrong likable personalityProficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Systems, and File transfer protocolProficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.Technically savvy. Able to learn computerized systems and operations quickly.Design knowledge techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modelsKnowledge of raw material, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goodsActive listening skillsAdaptable attitude. Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.Sense of urgency. Takes ownership of deadlines and timelines for special projectsCritical Thinking SkillsTime Management Skills
Working Conditions:Significant walking, bending, standingPhysical activities including but not limited to reaching, pulling, pushing, gripping, grabbing, and must be able to lift up to 50lbs.Prolonged periods working on a computerProlonged periods of standing and moving from press to pressExtended hours during peak season (Oct-Dec). Overtime mandatory
