Provides student career technical training (CTT) to ensure student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program leading to quality full-time jobs, higher education or advanced training. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located, or is accredited by a professional trade organization
Provide career technical training instruction to students by teaching from approved curriculum.
Use effective youth and young adult learning strategies to plan, prepare, and implement instructional units to assist students in gaining knowledge, skills, and attitudes appropriate for selected industry.
Tailor facilitation to each student by using a variety of instructional approaches in recognition of students' diverse learning needs and preferences.
Administer and create appropriate hands-on activities utilizing classroom mock-ups.
Model and provide instruction in the use of information technology as a critical component of workplace success.
Monitor and evaluate student progress.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Job Corps information systems including case notes, attendance, career plans, and Evaluation of Student Progress (ESP) forms.
Provide appropriate personal and educational guidance to students.
Ensure confidentiality of student records and services.
Meet Outcome Measurement System (OMS) and CTT-10 statistical goals for assigned trade.
Enforce professional norms and promote professional behavior for students in classroom/shop area.
Demonstrate interest and ability in working with at-promise youth.
Make recommendations for policy and curriculum revisions.
Demonstrate ability to manage classroom environment and classroom discipline for effective learning.
Demonstrate full knowledge of competency-based instruction, computer management instruction, and cooperative-learning techniques.
Demonstrate full knowledge of CTT Job Corps program operations for assigned trade.
Interface with other Departments (Academic, CPP, Center Standards, Security, Counseling, etc.) to resolve issues, as necessary.
Provide opportunities for students to demonstrate Career Success Standards in the classroom/shop area.
Engage qualified outside volunteer speakers to enhance curriculum and training experience.
Establish and maintain linkages with industry employers and workforce partners.
Schedule and participate in experiential learning/field trips applicable to the training program and approved by the CTT Manager.
Maintain accurate accountability and performance records on each student assigned.
Submit weekly progress updates on each student.
Promote importance of academic credential attainment and skill-building for assigned students.
Control use of materials, property, and equipment.
Participate in Evaluation of Student Progress (ESP) score completion and panel system.
Maintain required credentials and/or certifications of position.
Operate in accordance with requirements set in the contract, PRH, guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and corporate policies.
Complete all required training according to Job Corps and Company training schedule.
Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
Contribute to cultivation of positive Center culture which is free of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
Promote 6 C's of Positive Youth Development by treating students respectfully as adults and developing positive student relationships.
Promote development of Career Success Standards by modeling expected behaviors, mentoring students and fellow staff to aid in their growth, and monitoring student behavior for accountability and recognition.
Provide quality customer service to students, staff, and other Center customers.
Participate in student employability programs and activities.
Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.
Maintain a safe and clean work area, adhering to all safety guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
