Job Description

Reports to: Facility Supervisor and COO


  • The Behavioral Health Technician/Recovery Coach is responsible for assisting the Facility Supervisor and all program staff in coordinating and providing transportation needs of the facility and its patients'.
  • They are responsible for assisting with the monitoring and maintaining the condition of the facility vehicle in a safe and orderly manner and reporting any identified vehicle deficits to the Facility Supervisor.
  • The BHT/RC is responsible for assisting with the overseeing of patients' in their daily schedules within the facilities policies and procedures and in accordance with the standards of the State and Federal Regulations.


The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with the supervision of patients' in their daily activities.
  • Ensure the patient’s follow clinical schedule.
  • Transport patient's to and from Treatment & Detox facilities as needed
  • Make continuous rounds of the facility to ensure patient safety.
  • Assist in overseeing all patient activities.
  • Redirecting and reporting patient’s if rules are broken
  • Ensure housekeeping and upkeep of buildings and grounds are clean.
  • Get rooms ready for patient admission and discharges.
  • Seeks corrective criticism and has the ability to evaluate suggestions objectively.
  • Reports to work as assigned.
  • Maintains acceptable overall attendance.
  • Promotes a favorable/positive work atmosphere.
  • Attends in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned.
  • Seeks out learning experiences and incorporates new knowledge in practice.
  • Maintains flexibility and adaptability to expected and unexpected changes in the work environment.
  • Reports personal symptoms of suspected illness of contagious diseases to Facility Supervisor/COO.
  • Maintains safety of the physical environment.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Independently solve problems and follow through.
  • Organize and function independently in an office environment.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Required to maintain certifications up to date:
  • (CPR, PCI/Aggression, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, Infection Control)
  • Complete training in UDS (Urine Drug Screen) collection
  • Complete UDS for patients


  • Ability to work as a team member and have management, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and be flexible in relation to department needs.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards within the Department. Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal and written Communication Skills.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Statues Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws.
  • Knowledge of Drug Free Workplace Policies:
  • Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Integrity and Compliance Program.
  • Knowledge of current technology.
  • Knowledge of 12 Step Programs (Addiction/Recovery).
  • Familiar with community resources.


  • A minimum of five years driving experience preferred
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Experience in the field of chemical dependency/substance abuse/psychiatric setting or human services field preferred
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and clear driving record approved by NBH insurance carrier
  • Complete TB testing upon being hired
  • Complete certifications in CPR, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, PCI/Aggression, Infection Control
